About Me

Isn't this whole site about me? Tough first question... It is and it isn't. This section attempts to answer the question 'who is Nick?', not 'what has Nick done?'.

How can one explain who they are in a webpage? I don't know. Let's see if I figure it out as I keep writing...

Quick Bio

I was born in Minneapolis, MN in April of 1992 - Brad Warner and Lisa Turner's first born child and for 3 sweet years, the center of attention. Now, I'm oldest of 4 siblings and rightful heir of something to be negotiated later.

I lived in Minnesota for the first 18 years of my life. Specifically, in a relaxed town 30 minutes west of Minneapolis, called Excelsior. A thoroughly comfortable place to grow up, although I did my best to find discomfort.

As a descendent of Swedish immigrants, agriculture entrepreneurs, and well to do British folks, I embody elements of each. More directly responsible for me are my parents, one an educator and the other a lawyer.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, these are a few of the favorite things.... and a few of my least favorite.

Nick-isms

So I like phrases and language a lot. I especially like making those things up or adopting combinations for my own purposes. As a result, sometimes I say phrases or words folks may not have heard before. More than 1 person has told me I should have a definitions list handy. This is the start of that.

Phrase/Word
Definition
Usage Frequency
Octopus garden
Something weird, non-sensical, and/or unexpected. Can be good or bad, usually something in between.
4
Thorny bush
A really tough problem. To solve it, you're going to get scratched up and it'll be painful, but it's surmountable with a can-do attitude.
3
Okey-doke corral
Nonsense, in a childish sense. Lots of for show displays, not a lot of progress.
5
Hokey-poke corral
A bunch of nonsense. A lot of doing nothing or a waste of time/resources. Screwing around.
7
Fighting duck sized horses
From the question: would you rather fight 1 horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses? I fight duck sized horses.
3
Wagon with no wheels
Could be useful, but it's not very useful in current state. A sad state of affairs, something that will take a lot of effort to get anywhere.
